If you are working with a bail bondsman and fail to pay, there are potentially serious issues to consider. A bail bond is a legal contract that the guarantor has signed with the bail bond company. If the individual shoes up can court and is not skipping bail, the bond money, less the fee for the bond, is returned.
What Happens If You Do Not Pay Bail Bonds?
The contract signed with Sanctuary Bail Bonds outlines your legal obligations to pay the bail and our fee of 10%. This contract does not change regardless of the outcome of the hearing.
A bail bond company can use both civil and criminal options to address a failure to pay the bond. This is true even if the individual is found guilty and is in prison and failing to make payments. If the individual is skipping bail and wonders can a bondsman arrest you, the answer to the question is yes, and they do not need a warrant.
One of the more significant that comes to mind with the question of what happens if you don’t pay your jail bill (or bond) is that the bond company no longer pays your bail bond with the court. The court then revokes bail, which means you will go to jail when arrested. So, you can go to jail for not paying bail bonds, even though it is not a criminal offense.
However, at Sanctuary Bail Bonds, these issues would only occur after we have made every effort to work with the individual on payment plans. If you have any questions, call us at 602-224-5247.
